In 2008 Leigh played their last match at Hilton Park. Unfortunately Leigh lost against Whitehaven with Haven's Greg McNally scoring the last ever first team try at Hilton Park.

In 1894 Technical College and Library, Railway Road, was officially opened by the Earl of Derby. The total cost, including furniture and books, was £13,166. There were 3300 lending books and 1000 reference books.
